Privacy: forms, calculators and local equipment records
Reference pages can be read without an account. Optional equipment records stay in this browser.
Calculator inputs run locally when JavaScript works; a normal fallback form submission sends the listed inputs to this site for a result. Contact submissions and direct recall searches have separate data flows described below.
Feature-by-feature information
| Feature | What happens |
|---|---|
| My Equipment | Machine details, notes and optional calculator fields use this browser’s local storage |
| Enhanced calculator | Calculation uses the loaded module on this device |
| Calculator fallback | Form inputs are sent to this site; response is no-store and no profile is created |
| Recall search | Search term is sent directly to the CPSC SaferProducts API |
| Contact | Name, email, topic and message are submitted for the request |
| Contact verification | Cloudflare Turnstile may load and process verification data |
Contact and verification
The contact implementation uses a hidden spam field, request-rate controls and Cloudflare Turnstile verification when configured. A statement that it has no third-party verification would be inaccurate. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for that provider’s handling.
Submit only the information needed for the inquiry. Contact content can be used to assess a correction and reply.
Delivery and hosting services process the request; their operational retention cannot be verified from the page code alone. Ask about access or deletion through contact.
Local records and requests
Clearing site data removes local equipment records and saved preferences. A different browser or device has its own storage. The feature does not provide a server-side account or backup.
Recall queries go to SaferProducts.gov, which receives the search request. Calculator fallback and contact requests go to this site. Hosting infrastructure can process normal request information such as address, time and user agent; “nothing is ever sent anywhere” would be an inaccurate description.
No advertising or analytics integration is present in the reviewed site implementation. Third-party verification can have its own behavior, so this policy makes no blanket no-cookie claim for every provider. Avoid putting private details into recall searches, calculator fields or equipment notes.
Legal
Privacy policy
This policy describes what this site does for the features currently provided. The publication has no advertising-cookie interface. The contact form can load Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse prevention, and optional machine details can be stored in this browser through My Equipment.
No analytics, advertising, tag-management or social integration is configured in the reviewed publication. Cloudflare contact verification can load resources from its own domain; a recall search also sends its search term to the government API. With JavaScript enabled, calculator arithmetic runs in the browser.
A standard form submission instead sends its supplied inputs to this site’s calculator result handler; the printed inputs and formula remain part of that response. The one place anything is written to your browser’s local storage is the optional My Equipment feature, and only if you choose to save something there: still never to a server. There are no accounts and nothing is sold.
The contact form sends the message fields you choose to submit. Calculator form requests and ordinary page requests are processed as described in their own sections.

The short version
No advertising or analytics integration is configured in this publication. The contact flow can use Cloudflare verification; optional equipment records remain in this browser, and an ordinary calculator form submission is processed by the site’s result handler. Calculator interaction runs in the browser when scripting is enabled.
A standard calculator form request sends the stated inputs to this site for its HTML result. The optional My Equipment feature writes to your browser's own local storage, and only if you choose to save something there, still never to a server. Sending a contact message is optional.
Standard calculator form requests also carry their supplied inputs, while ordinary page requests supply the request information described under hosting logs.
What the site does, measured rather than assumed
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Cookies set for a visitor | No advertising-cookie integration is configured by this site. Verification services can have their own behavior; Cloudflare’s privacy information describes its processing. |
| Analytics or advertising scripts | None. No third-party analytics, no tag manager, no advertising network, no social embeds. |
| Browser storage | My Equipment saves the chosen machine or calculator details in this browser’s local storage. Saving a record does not create a server account or transmit the stored record. If saved values are later inserted into a calculator form and that form is submitted, those form inputs are sent for the requested calculation. |
| Third-party content loaded into a page | No advertising, analytics or externally hosted font integration is configured in the reviewed publication. Cloudflare contact verification can request its own external resources. The live recall search sends the entered search term from the browser to the CPSC’s public saferproducts.gov API; that request goes directly to the government service rather than through this publication. |
| Calculator inputs | Processed in the browser with JavaScript enabled; a standard HTML form submission sends its inputs to this site for calculation. Optional saved figures use this browser’s storage through the save feature. |
| Accounts, logins or saved profiles | No accounts and no logins exist anywhere on the site. My Equipment lets you save machine details, but they live only in your browser’s local storage; there is no server-side profile behind it. |
| Data sold or shared with anyone | No advertising sale of contact details is provided by this site. A contact submission and its abuse-verification information are processed for the request through the contact and hosting services described below. |
My Equipment: what the local storage is and is not
My Equipment lets you save a machine's details and, optionally, a maintenance log, so a calculator can prefill itself the next time you use it. Everything you save there is written to this browser's own local storage, the same mechanism a shopping cart or a dark-mode setting uses, and stays on this device in this browser.
We never receive it, cannot see it, and it is never included in a server log or sent anywhere as part of using the feature. Clearing your browser's site data, using a private window, or opening the site on a different device or browser all start this feature empty, because there is nowhere else the data was ever kept.
The live recall search
Checking a recall includes a live search box that queries the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's public database (saferproducts.gov) directly. When you search, your browser sends the search term straight to that government API, the same way it would if you visited cpsc.gov yourself; the request does not pass through our servers, and we do not see or log what you searched.
The contact form
If you send a message we receive the name, email address, topic and message text you entered. That information is used to reply to you and, where the message is a correction, to check and fix the page. It is not added to a mailing list, not used for marketing and processed through the contact delivery and abuse-verification services needed for the request, rather than sold for advertising.
Messages are retained only as long as needed to deal with the matter and to keep a record of a correction that was made.
The form includes a hidden field that ordinary visitors never see or fill in. Submissions that fill it in are treated as automated and discarded. The contact flow also supports Cloudflare Turnstile verification.
A verification result and request information can be processed for abuse protection; a standard HTML request uses the controls available to that submission path.
Server logs
Hosting can process the requested page, request time, network address, browser user-agent and any referring page supplied by the browser. Those records support delivery and abuse handling.
Hosting logs follow the provider’s retention and deletion practices. This publication cannot confirm those operational schedules from its page implementation, and sending a deletion request here does not guarantee automatic erasure of the hosting provider’s separate records.
Children
This site is written for equipment owners and is not directed at children. The publication does not knowingly seek information from children. Contact messages, calculator submissions, verification and hosting requests are processed as described above; optional equipment records are stored in this browser.
Your choices
You can remove locally saved machine details through My Equipment or browser site-data controls, choose whether to use the recall search and decide whether to send a contact request. If you have sent a message and would like it deleted, ask through the contact form, choosing the privacy topic, and it will be removed along with our reply, subject to any record we need to keep of a correction made to a page.
Changes to this policy
If the site changes in a way that affects any of the above, if its verification services, browser storage or form processing change, this page is updated before that change goes live, and the date at the top changes with it.
