Westinghouse WGen2000 and WGen3600 service

The cited gasoline WGen2000, WGen3600 and WGen3600v manual specifies600 ml of 10 W-30 oil, an F7TC plug and a 20-hour or first-month initial oil change. These are WGen instructions. The iGen4500’s similar oil quantity does not establish the same plug, gap or first-service interval.

A shared engine size does not mean equal output

The WGen2000 is rated for 2,000 running watts and 2,500 peak watts. The WGen3600/3600v row gives 3,600 running and 4,650 peak watts. Both have212 cc engines, but the generator output and receptacle ratings remain model-specific.

A hypothetical 2,800Wcontinuous load is 800 W above the WGen2000’s running rating. The WGen3600 has 800 W of running-rating difference before considering starts or individual receptacle limits. Neither subtraction approves a particular appliance combination.

A continuous load must fit the running rating; the separate peak allowance does not raise sustained output.

Twenty running hours can arrive during an outage

At an example eight operating hours per day, the 20-hour initial change becomes due halfway through the third day. That differs from the iGen4500’s25-hour instruction. Log running time and follow the manual’s whichever-first calendar limit.

The next oil service in this manual is 50 hours or six months. Dust, heat and heavy service can require closer attention; inspect the actual level before each use rather than relying on shutdown protection.

The older WGen3600 parts list identifies air filter5206 and spark plug97108, with a 0.70–0.80 mm gap. Its F7TC description must not be replaced by the iGen’s F7RTC merely because the numbers look similar. Carry the complete gasoline-model identity into the parts lookup.

Westinghouse WGen2000, WGen3600 and WGen3600v: oil, spark plug and schedule

The Westinghouse WGen2000, WGen3600 and WGen3600v share a 212 cc engine that takes 0.60 liter of 10W-30 oil and an F7TC spark plug, with Westinghouse listing AC Delco 4EXLS, Autolite 52, Champion N9YC and Bosch W7DC as replacements. The oil is changed after the first 20 hours or month and then every 50 hours or 6 months. The plug and air filter are replaced after 300 hours or every year, and valve clearance and idle speed are dealer jobs.

Before you run or service it

Run it outdoors, away from openings into a building, and let it cool before you refuel or service it. The figures below are from Westinghouse’s user manual covering the WGen2000, WGen3600 and WGen3600v, listed in the sources. The dual-fuel WGen3600DF has a separate manual.

Three models, one 212 cc engine

The WGen2000, WGen3600 and WGen3600v are open-frame portable generators that share a 212 cubic centimeter engine with a rated speed of 3,600 RPM and transistor-controlled ignition. What differs is the generator end: 2,000 running and 2,500 peak watts on the WGen2000, and 3,600 running and 4,650 peak watts on both WGen3600 models. Each takes 0.60 liter of 10W-30 oil and a 15 liter (4.0 gallon) tank of fuel, and each uses an F7TC spark plug.

Where the unit has two air filters, the gray fine one is fitted first and the black coarse one goes on the outside. The foam elements are washed in household detergent and warm water, squeezed, re-oiled and refitted, and replaced at the yearly interval. The spark plug wrench in the box is 13/16 inch.

Westinghouse WGen2000, WGen3600 and WGen3600v: questions

How much oil does a Westinghouse WGen3600 take?

0.60 liter of 10W-30 oil, the same as the WGen2000 and WGen3600v. Check the level before every use, on a flat surface, with the oil fill plug and dipstick threaded fully in before you pull it out to read it.

What spark plug does the WGen3600 use?

An F7TC (Torch). Westinghouse also lists the AC Delco 4EXLS, Autolite 52, Champion N9YC and Bosch W7DC as recommended replacements. It says to use only recommended plugs.

What is the spark plug gap on the WGen3600?

The manual gives the acceptable limit as 0.027 to 0.032 inch (0.70 to 0.80 mm). Check and clean the plug after 100 hours or every 6 months, and replace it after 300 hours or every year.

When should the oil be changed in a WGen3600?

After the first 20 hours or the first month of use, then after 50 hours or every 6 months, whichever comes first. Westinghouse gives the two intervals in its owner-performed maintenance table.

How big is the WGen3600 engine and fuel tank?

The engine is 212 cubic centimeters with a rated speed of 3,600 RPM, and the tank is 15 liters (4.0 gallons). The WGen2000 and WGen3600v share the same engine, tank and oil capacity.

What is the difference between the WGen2000 and WGen3600?

The output: 2,000 running and 2,500 peak watts on the WGen2000, against 3,600 running and 4,650 peak watts on the WGen3600. The manual gives them the same engine size, oil, spark plug and fuel tank.

What fuel does the WGen3600 use?

Gasoline with 87 octane or higher and a maximum of 10% ethanol. Fill the tank as the manual describes, with the generator off and cool, on level ground.

Which WGen3600 maintenance jobs go to a dealer?

Westinghouse assigns valve clearance and idle speed, checked after 300 hours or every year, and the fuel filter, checked and cleaned after 100 hours or every 6 months, to an authorized service dealer.

How do I clean the WGen3600 air filter?

Wash the foam elements in household detergent soap and warm water and squeeze them, rinse in clean water, dry them, coat them with oil and squeeze out the excess. Never twist or tear the foam. Refit the gray fine filter first, then the black coarse one.

What size spark plug socket does the WGen3600 need?

A 13/16 inch spark plug socket wrench, which Westinghouse says is provided with the generator. Do not apply side load to the plug or its boot when removing it, since that can crack the boot.

How often should I exercise a WGen3600?

The manual’s schedule is by hours and calendar, and for storage it says to use fuel stabilizer or drain the fuel. A monthly run under load is the practice covered’s generator page.

Is the WGen3600v different from the WGen3600?

In Westinghouse’s specification table the two have identical ratings, engine, oil and spark plug. The v model is a separate variant in the same manual. Check your label for the exact model.

What are the air filter and spark plug part numbers for a WGen3600?

The WGen3600 air filter is Westinghouse part 5206, with the top cover 5970 and the whole air filter assembly 50030132. The spark plug is part 97108, a Torch F7TC, and the fuel tank filter is 518801. The WGen2000 uses the same parts.
