Troy-Bilt Storm parts: match width, belt style and engine
Match the complete Troy-Bilt product number, engine and assembly before buying Storm 2410/2620/2840 parts. The 2013 parts book lists shear pin 738-04124A, but it separates standard belts from four-way large-block belts and gives different shave plates for 24-, 26- and 28-inch machines. A Storm family name alone cannot select every part.
Width selects the shave plate
| Width | Listed plate |
|---|---|
| 24 inch | 790-00120 |
| 26 inch | 790-00121 |
| 28 inch | 790-00118 |
The May 2013 illustrated parts manual also separates the corresponding auger housings and axles. A 28-inch plate is four inches wider than a 24-inch plate; similar bolt appearance does not establish fit. Match the diagram and current part substitution for your exact product number.
Two belt arrangements share the booklet
| Drive | Standard | Four-way large block |
|---|---|---|
| Auger | 954-04050 | 954-04195 |
| Wheel | 954-04260 | 954-04201A |
These are alternatives, not a four-belt shopping list. Check the assembly fitted to the machine before ordering, and preserve the routing diagram before removal. Do not select by a marketplace list that names all three Storm sizes without distinguishing configuration.
Engine identity changes the carburetor order
The book includes 270-SUA, 265-SUA, 478-SUB and 370-SUC engine sections. It lists 951-10292 as the spark plug, but carburetor numbers differ; some sections also distinguish Huayi and Deni versions. A common plug number does not prove the carburetor or gasket kit is shared.
The listed shear pin measures 0.25 by 1.50 inches. Use the specified shear component and retainer, not a stronger ordinary bolt that bypasses the intended protection. Keep wear measurements separate from identification: dimensions alone do not establish material or shear behavior.
Stop the engine, remove the key, wait for all rotation to stop and follow ignition-isolation instructions before opening covers. A parts diagram identifies components; use the operator/service instructions for safe removal, torque and adjustment. Clear snow clogs with the clean-out tool, never a hand.
Troy-Bilt Storm 2410, 2620 and 2840 snow blowers: shear pin, belt and spark plug part numbers
The Troy-Bilt Storm 2410, 2620 and 2840 use shear pin 738-04124A, spark plug 951-10292 (an F6RTC), standard auger belt 954-04050 and standard wheel belt 954-04260, with 4-way large block belts 954-04195 and 954-04201A. Shave plates are 790-00120, 790-00121 and 790-00118 for the 24, 26 and 28 inch models.
Stop the engine, remove the key and disconnect the spark plug wire before replacing a shear pin, belt or scraper part, and never put a hand near the auger while the engine is running. Numbers are from Troy-Bilt’s illustrated parts manual for these snow throwers, listed in the sources.
The wear parts, by part number
Troy-Bilt’s illustrated parts manual (form 769-09030, May 2013) covers the two-stage Storm 2410, Storm 2620 and Storm 2840, which have 24, 26 and 28 inch augers. It lists four engine models, 270-SUA, 265-SUA, 478-SUB and 370-SUC, and gives the same spark plug for all four. This page lists the parts an owner replaces most: shear pins, belts, scraper parts and the plug.
| Part | Part number |
|---|---|
| Shear pin, 0.25 x 1.50 in | 738-04124A |
| Spark plug, F6RTC (all four engines) | 951-10292 |
| Auger drive belt, standard | 954-04050 |
| Auger drive belt, 4-way large block | 954-04195 |
| Wheel drive belt, standard | 954-04260 |
| Wheel drive belt, 4-way large block | 954-04201A |
| Skid shoe | 784-5580 |
| Deluxe skid shoe | 790-00091 |
| Shave plate, 24 in | 790-00120 |
| Shave plate, 26 in | 790-00121 |
| Shave plate, 28 in | 790-00118 |
| Auger gearbox assembly, 24, 26 and 28 in | 918-04171B, 918-04172B, 918-04173A |
| Auger drive cable | 946-04230A |
| Wheel clutch cable, 44.955 in | 946-05067 |
| Chute cleanout tool | 931-2643 |
The shear pin is listed in the auger and housing parts list as a 0.25 by 1.50 inch pin. Belts come in a standard style and a 4-way large block style, and the manual lists both, so the belt you buy must match the one on your machine. Painted service parts need a four digit color suffix added to the part number, for example 0637 for black.

| Belt cover, standard | 731-04792A |
| Hi-pro key | 914-0161 (auger) and 914-0126 (drive) |
The auger housings, axles, gearboxes and shave plates all come in three sizes, one for each width, so the part number you need depends on whether you own the 24, 26 or 28 inch machine. The parts manual divides the machine into sections such as auger and housing, drive system, frame and the four engines, and each section has an exploded drawing with reference numbers that match the lists above.
Engine parts named in the manual
| Engine model | Part and number |
|---|---|
| 270-SUA | Muffler assembly 951-11282; carburetor assemblies 951-14026A (Huayi) and 951-14027A (Deni); cylinder head assembly 951-10722B |

Every engine section lists the same F6RTC spark plug, 951-10292, so that number does not change with the engine. The valve kit is 951-10647A on the 270-SUA and 265-SUA, and the manual also lists gasket kits, valve cover kits and push rod kits for each engine.
