John Deere D110/D130/E130/E140: oil and engine service

Separate the E130 Easy Change system from the cited D110, D130 and E140 conventional oil/filter service. The E130’s0.8 US qt cartridge renewal and 2.8 US qt engine-capacity entry describe different quantities. Use the actual engine, tractor serial and oil-system instructions; X300/X320 service has a separate engine-qualified guide.

E130: cartridge quantity is not engine capacity

Deere describes Easy Change as renewing 0.8 US quart of oil at each cartridge replacement, every 50 hours or at the end of the mowing season. The E130 reminder sheet lists 2.8 quarts as engine capacity.

Those figures describe different things: do not add 2.8 quarts during a cartridge exchange. Follow the actual cartridge installation and oil-level instructions.

E130 published quantities: 0.8 of 2.8 US quartsOil renewed per cartridge: 0.8 US qt; Other nominal system volume: 2 US qtE130 published quantities: 0.8 of 2.8 US quartsOil renewed per cartridge: 0.8 US qtOther nominal system volume: 2 US qt

The arithmetic is about 29 percent renewed per exchange, not a complete drain. This does not predict how much contaminant is removed or authorize a longer interval. Deere explains the system and seasonal limit; the E130 sheet identifies AUC13705 as its maintenance kit.

Check the dipstick by the operator manual’s procedure after service; residual oil, filter work and engine identity matter. The D110 sheet separates MIU14395 from MIU11511 air filters by serial and market.

The D130 sheet similarly separates GY21056 from MIU14395. Its printed serial thresholds vary by market; carry the full tractor number into parts lookup.

The E140 sheet lists two UC19085 plugs and LG275 as the maintenance kit. That is not proof that either fits a different engine fitted to an older tractor. Reminder-sheet hour marks also do not remove calendar, severe-service or safety instructions in the applicable operator manual.

John Deere D110, D130, E130 and E140 lawn tractors: filters, oil, spark plugs and kits

John Deere lists conventional oil filter AM125424 where fitted (E130 instead uses AUC12916), in-line fuel filter AM116304, spark plug M78543 (UC19085 on the E130 and E140) and air filter MIU14395 for its D110, D130, E130 and E140 lawn tractors. Oil is Turf-Gard 10W-30, 1.5 quarts in the D110, 2 in the D130 and E140 and 2.8 in the E130 as total capacity, not the amount renewed by its Easy Change cartridge. Conventional D-series oil changes and the E130’s cartridge service must be logged separately.

The Home Maintenance Kits are LG266, LG263, LG275 and AUC13705 by model.

Before you service it

Turn the ignition off, take the key out and disconnect the spark plug wires before any service, and let the engine and exhaust cool. Part numbers and intervals are from John Deere’s Maintenance Reminder Sheets for these tractors, listed in the sources.

One set of filters across the D100 and E100 lawn tractors

The D110, D120, D130, D140, E130 and E140 lawn tractors share most of their service parts. That is good news at the parts counter: the same oil filter, the same fuel filter and the same spark plug fit most of the range, and only the air filter, the oil capacity and the deck parts change with the model and the serial number. The specification comparison is John Deere’s own list for the D110 and D130 with a 42 inch deck, with the E130 and E140 differences after it.

The E130 and E140, with the Easy Change oil system

The E130 and E140 use a different oil setup and plug. The E130 has the John Deere Easy Change oil system, a sealed cartridge AUC12916 that renews 0.8 US quart; the stated 2.6 L (2.8 qt) is total engine capacity. The E140 takes a regular oil filter, AM125424, and 1.9 L (2 qt).

Both use spark plug UC19085 and air filter MIU14395, and the E130 belt and blade numbers are the D130’s.

The John Deere D110, D130, E130 and E140 lawn tractors schedule

John Deere’s reminder sheet lists the oil change at 8 hours, the break-in change, and then every 50 hours through the first 250 hours. The oil filter, the air filter, the fuel filter and the spark plugs are all replaced at each of those 50 hour marks. That is a shorter interval than the engine makers print for the same engines, and the reminder sheet is the one to follow while the tractor is in warranty.

Home Maintenance Kits

John Deere sells all of these as one kit numbered for the model and serial range. The D110 kit is LG266 for the US on serial numbers up to 500000, LG271 for California and the rest of the world, and LG262 on later machines. The D130 uses LG263 for the US, Canada and Australia on serial numbers up to 400000 and LG275 after that, with LG272 and LG276 for California.

The kit holds the filters and plugs and is the cheapest way to buy the set.

John Deere D110, D130, E130 and E140 lawn tractors: questions

What oil filter does a John Deere D110 or D130 use?

John Deere part AM125424, from its own maintenance reminder sheets for both tractors. The E140 uses the same filter, while the E130 has the Easy Change oil system, AUC12916, instead of a spin-on filter.

What is the fuel filter number for a John Deere D130?

AM116304, the in-line fuel filter, which John Deere also lists for the D110, E130 and E140. Deere replaces it every 50 hours on the D-series with the oil and air filters.

What spark plug does a John Deere D110 take?

M78543 in the US and Canada, or MIU11020 for Europe, per John Deere’s reminder sheet. The E130 and E140 use UC19085 instead, so check the model before you order.

What air filter fits a John Deere D110?

MIU14395 on serial numbers up to 500000 (US, California and Australia) or 200000 (Canada, Mexico and the rest of the world), and MIU11511 on later machines. The serial number decides it.

Which air filter does a John Deere D130 use?

GY21056 on early machines, up to serial 040000 in the US and 080000 elsewhere, and MIU14395 after that. Both are on John Deere’s D130 reminder sheet.

How much oil does a John Deere D110 hold?

1.4 liters (1.5 US quarts) of Turf-Gard 10W-30, per John Deere’s reminder sheet. The D130 takes 2 quarts, the E140 takes 2 quarts and the E130 takes 2.8 quarts.

How often should I change the oil on a John Deere D130?

At 8 hours for the break-in change, then every 50 hours. John Deere’s sheet replaces the oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs at the same 50 hour marks through the first 250 hours.

What is the John Deere D130 maintenance kit number?

LG263 for the US, Canada and Australia on serial numbers up to 400000, and LG275 after that. California machines use LG272 or LG276. The kit holds the filters and plugs.

What is the maintenance kit for a John Deere D110?

LG266 for the US on serial numbers up to 500000, LG271 for California and the rest of the world, and LG262 on later machines. All of them come from John Deere’s D110 sheet.

What is the mower belt for a John Deere D130 with a 42 inch deck?

GX20072, the same as the D110 and E130. The traction drive belt is GX20006. The E140 with the 48 inch deck uses mower belt GX21833.

What blade fits a John Deere D130?

GX22151, the 42 inch 3-in-1 blade, or the blade kit GY20850. The D110 uses UC21583, and the E140 with the 48 inch deck uses GX21784.

What is the Easy Change oil system on the John Deere E130?

A sealed oil cartridge, part AUC12916, that replaces the usual spin-on oil filter, so the cartridge and its stated oil quantity are renewed together; this is not a complete engine-oil drain. It is only on the E130; the E140 uses a normal AM125424 filter.

Does a John Deere D110 have one spark plug or two?

One, per John Deere’s list. The D130, with its twin-cylinder engine, takes two of the M78543 plugs, and the E130 and E140 take two of the UC19085.
